In 9.0.5 the system of Valor Points returned to WoW, after which it was evolved in 9.1 and 9.2. If in PvP players have Conquest, then in PvE you have to get gear from M+ and raids, and the process itself is quite complicated and time-consuming. When patch 9.2 was released, Blizzard gave an opportunity to further improve items.

Where to Farm Valor Points in Shadowlands?

Farming is not complicated and limits players to only two options: completing covenant callings and finishing M+ of any level. Number of points does not depend on dungeon difficulty.

Activity and number of Valor Points you receive:

Cov Callings — 35 rare and 50 epic;

Mythic+ — 135 per dungeon, regardless of level or time. M+0 gives no reward.

It turns out that M+ walkthrough is the most effective way to farm this currency. There is a limit on the number of points that players are able to get per season now — 6 750. It grows with each week and allows farming even more.

This value is not the maximum amount of currency that can be obtained in current week, but shows since patch was released. For example, if you were able to get 3 000 points in the first week, you’ll have another 2.750 obtained in the second week (5000 + 750 new week - 3.000 from previous week). It is displayed in the tooltip on the currency tab, so you can always easily check how much currency you are able to receive, so as not to waste time.

Where to Upgrade M+ Valor Items in Shadowlands?

Each upgradeable gear has 12 ranks. First, you need to understand how these ranks relate with ilvl of items from M+. Especially for this purpose we have made a table, which will make it easier to navigate in this ratio.

It means that when players get a gear with 255 ilvl, it will already have rank 7 and you’ll need significantly less currency to improve it to 12, but there will be conditions that must be followed in order to make the upgrade. They are not difficult to comply with, just go to high keys and get a rating. This system is quite clever and has long been known to players, although previously used a third-party modification of Raider.io.

Shadowlands Valor upgrade vendors are at different coordinates depending on your covenant, so don't be alarmed if after a change you can't improve where you did before. There is also a general one which is always in the same place — the Aggressor Zo'dash in Oribos at 34.5, 56.5.

With this information you'll know right away which level M+ needed to get an item of a certain rank immediately and save a lot of Valor. Don't forget about the Great Vault, which reward can also be improved. Ideally, go through at least one Mythic+ 10-15 per week to get the best rewards.

Don't forget about set/non-set gear, which you get with Creation Catalyst. If one of the M+ items was used as base, it retains rank after transformation and can be upgraded for the same cost.
